Urban nature in the central park

Located in the heart of the city, in the middle of the Kokemäenjoki River, the Kirjurinluoto Park is Pori’s central park. The park has become a popular destination for outdoor activities and recreation for people of all ages. Visitors can go for a quick walk in fresh air or spend a longer time in nature in the national urban park. The park has trails ranging from less than a kilometre to up to eight kilometres. Visitors can grill food at the Ystävyydenaukio Square’s barbecue area by the river.

While in Kirjurinluoto, it’s also a good idea to visit Rauha Sauna & Lounge, which was completed in late 2025. The architecturally impressive  building combines traditional sauna culture with modern well-being. The spacious sauna offers a gentle sauna experience, and the bravest visitors can go for a swim in the river all year round. The terrace offers a beautiful view of the riverside and the old town centre of Pori.

The most stunning sandy beach in the Nordic countries

The sea is Yyteri’s big draw, and what could be better than taking a walk at your own pace along the beach, admiring the sea, the dunes and other natural wonders. The area’s hiking trails also offer a whole host of other things: diverse forest types, bog crossings and observation decks in prime locations for enjoying the open landscape. There are accessible paths, as well as options for hikers and bikers, covering more than 30 kilometres. Food can be grilled in the courtyard of the Yyteri Visitor Centre or while admiring the sea view at the Munakarinsäikkä campfire site.

Opened in summer 2024, the Yyteri Visitor Centre is not only an attraction praised for its beautiful architecture and a great place to visit thanks to its exhibition elements, but also a useful source of services for people visiting the area. The tourist information point, café and all-year-round toilets will give your visit to Yyteri a boost and help you enjoy the unique nature and service offering of the area in an even more wide-ranging way.

Yyteri and its surrounding areas are also popular among bird lovers. Several nature observation decks at the Yyteri bird beach and in seaside Pori offer new perspectives on the world of our feathered friends. The bird beach is one of Finland’s best places to observe wading birds, as well as the spring and autumn migration of birds. Walk to the next observation spot at your own pace along the duckboards and trails: you don’t need to be a bird lover to be delighted by the magnificent views.

Bothnian Sea National Park

Stretching from Kustavi to Merikarvia,  the Bothnian Sea National Park offers wonderful maritime experiences for nature lovers. Most of the park’s destinations are islands, the most popular of which are Säppi and Iso-Enskeri. Both islands are accessible to visitors without their own vessel on boat trips offered in the summer.

Preiviikinlahti Bay, an internationally significant bird site, is one of the few destinations of the Bothnian Sea National Park that are located on the mainland – right near Yyteri, for that matter.
