The elves are coming back to the Satakunta Museum in November
In November, the Satakunta Museum will open its eagerly awaited Tontut exhibition and its magical world. Tontut – those small and nimble creatures – will once again take over the Elon merkkejä (Signs of Life) permanent exhibition. The elves will tell visitors about their large family, Finnish folk traditions, and old beliefs that still live on today, albeit in a modified form.
Swimming waters in the Pori region are mostly of good quality – minor blue-green algae observations in Harjavalta and Pori
Monthly monitoring samples were taken from swimming areas in the Pori region’s environmental health cooperation area on August 11. Based on the samples, the microbiological quality of the water is good at all swimming sites. Small amounts of blue-green algae were observed at Kultakoukku beach in Harjavalta and at Kukkulankallio beach in Ruosniemi, Pori.
Night of the Arts fills Pori with diverse cultural experiences this coming Saturday
On Saturday 16 August, the Night of the Arts will be held in Pori for the second time, inviting locals and travellers to be surprised, delighted, and inspired by a rich variety of art events. Most of the programme is free of charge, and the city centre will serve as the main stage.

Metsähallitus and the City of Pori are planning improvements to the circular trail that loops around the Herrainpäivät Peninsula in Yyteri. The aim is to make the trail and its services accessible while also preventing further erosion of the trail surface. The upgrades are designed to make it easier to enjoy nature and allow more people to experience the area’s diverse scenery.
