The Satakunta Museum will be closed from February to March due to renovation

The fire alarm system of the Satakunta Museum's museum building on Hallituskatu will be renovated during February and March. Installation work will be carried out in all areas of the museum, and for safety reasons, public spaces, exhibitions, and the museum café will be closed from February 1st to April 1st, 2024.

At the Satakunta Museum, group tours or public events will not be held during the closure. However, museum experts can still be reached as usual by phone or email.

Public activities continue to thrive at other locations of Porin museums and online during the closure. A new exhibition, ‘Unique Yyteri,’ opens at the Ark Nature Centre on February 8th. The lecture series on nuclear power heritage begins on January 29th at the Rosenlew Museum, and renovation advisory evenings continue at the Toivo Building Culture House. Additionally, remote lectures on archaeology and Shrovetide traditions will be held in February and March, with various activities available for families during the winter break weeks.

On May 9th, we will open the Englund exhibition, delving into the unique photographs of master photographer John Englund’s studio and the Englund family’s story. The Suistomaan Soittopäivät – On the Crest of a New Wave exhibition continues at the Parvi exhibition space until May 26th.

Porin Art Museum is closed for renovation.
