Watch the cherry trees blossom at the Hanhiluoto
The birthdays of Pori National Urban Park have traditionally been celebrated by planting cherry trees in the Hanhiluoto area of Kirjurinluoto or at the mouth of the Portal Tunnel at the Travel Centre. This spring, trees will be planted in the Hanhiluoto, as the National Urban Park turns 23 on 6 May.

The aim of the cherry tree park to be developed in the Hanhiluoto area is to create a spring flowering event area to celebrate the arrival of spring. Although the trees are still young, their blossoming will create a festive atmosphere in the landscapes of the Hanhiluoto Exhibition Garden and pond. Hanhiluoto will provide an increasingly attractive destination for spring excursions, picnics and photography. A diverse range of species will ensure a long and spectacular flowering season.
Several cherry tree varieties have been planted in the park, such as Sargent’s cherry, Bird cherry and Morello cherry from Rauhala. There are also plans to experiment with some more exotic species such as the Yoshino cherry, Accolade cherry and the Japanese cherries Kanzan and Kiku-Shidare.
Come and admire the cherry trees in bloom!
