Pori's summer-integrated open-air swimming pool will open its summer season on Monday 2 June, and the guided exercise groups at the open-air swimming pool will start in the second week of June. Damage to the jumping tower was discovered in the spring and the jumping tower will be closed until it is safe to use. The central swimming hall will close for the summer break today.

Jumping tower and pool area of the outdoor swimming pool

As in previous years, the Pori’s open-air swimming pool will be open during the summer season from 6 am to 9 pm on weekdays, 6 am to 6 pm on Saturdays and 10 am to 6 pm on Sundays.

The only exception to the opening hours is Midsummer, when the pool will be open as follows:

  • Friday 20 June (Midsummer Eve) from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Saturday 21 June (Midsummer Day) closed
  • Sunday 22 June from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Swimming time at the open-air swimming pool always ends half an hour before closing time. The summer season at the swimming pool continues until Sunday 17 August.

The central swimming hall closes today, Wednesday 28 May at 20.30 and will next open after mid-August. The Meri-Pori swimming hall will remain open until Thursday 19 June, after which it will close for the summer.

The condition of the jumping tower at the open-air swimming pool is being examined

During a routine inspection after the winter season, cracks due to corrosion were found in the concrete structures of the ope-air swimming pool’s jumping tower. Samples were taken from the tower and are currently being analysed.

– To ensure the safety of visitors to the open-air swimming pool, the jumping tower will remain closed until the laboratory results of the samples are available and an expert opinion on the condition of the jumping tower is obtained. According to a preliminary estimate, the results will be ready in early June, says Mauri Pihlajaviita, maintenance engineer of the City of Pori.

The closure concerns the platforms of the jumping tower. The one- and three-metre springboards are in normal use.

What happens in the summer at the open-air swimming pool

– In the summer, from 9 June to 9 August, the open-air swimming pool will host the usual guided exercise sessions. The aquatic exercise groups, which run from Monday to Saturday, are included in the admission fee and there is no need to register separately, says Jan Hydén, the swimming supervisor and sports instructor in charge at the City of Pori.

In addition to the aquatic exercise groups at the open-air swimming pool, the Summer Movers will also organise other free exercise programmes, as in previous summers.

This coming Sunday, 1 June, Pori Tarmo will organise the Pori City Triathlon 2025 in the area of Open-air swimming pool and Pori Forest, where the race routes will partly intersect with the area’s outdoor trails. To ensure the safety of everyone in the area, traffic controllers will be present along the race route.
