Crowds in Yyteri – traffic is being directed and restrooms added
The hot summer weather has brought crowds to Yyteri. To ease the situation, traffic control has been arranged in the area for the duration of the heatwave. In addition, more restrooms have been placed at the northern end of the beach.

To avoid congestion, it’s a good idea to head to Yyteri in the evenings or take a bus. Traffic control has been arranged in the parking area to help traffic flow and make finding a parking spot easier. Traffic control will continue at least as long as the hot weather lasts, after which the situation will be reassessed. Besides private cars, you can reach Yyteri by bus (lines 34, 34W, and 36, and on weekends 34M and 34R) about once an hour. Bus schedules can be found on Pori public transport’s website.
Additional restroom capacity in Yyteri
This summer, Yyteri’s restroom capacity has been smaller than usual because the Virkistyshotelli Yyteri and the beach services underneath it are closed. Now five temporary restrooms have been added at the end of the Virkistyshotelli Yyteri building.
There are also five other restroom complexes maintained by the City of Pori located on and near the beach. The main beach restrooms are in the middle of the beach in zones B and D (see map). There are also facilities at the start of the main boardwalk near the dune restaurants and at the Yyteri Visitor Centre. The restroom at Yyteri Beach Holiday Village is also back in use.
The beach restrooms are open from 10:00 to 21:00. Visitor Centre restrooms are open free of charge from 6:00 to 21:00, and accessible with a paid phone call from 21:00 to 6:00. The portable toilets at the end of Virkistyshotelli Yyteri are open around the clock.
Respect the environment when moving around Yyteri
The beach dunes are a fragile habitat that needs to be protected. Please stay on the boardwalks and open sandy areas to avoid damaging beach grass and other plants.
Leaving trash on the beach harms the environment, so make sure to take packaging and other waste to recycling points after your beach day. You can pack snacks in reusable containers at home and aim to minimize food waste. Recycling points are located by the dune restaurants, Yyteri Square, and near the boardwalks on the beach.
