Tourist information also in the evenings and on weekends – Satakunta Museum Tourist Information Point
The range of tourist information services will be expanded in Pori, as from 1 March 2023, tourist information will also be available at the Satakunta Museum information point in addition to Visit Pori's tourist information. As the official tourist information point of Pori, the Satakunta Museum will also be open during its opening hours to answer questions from tourists.
-Our cooperation with Pori Museums will become even closer as we are able to better serve both domestic and international tourists. Pori’s tourist information services will be expanded as the Satakunta Museum will provide tourist information in the evenings and on weekends,” says Tiina Lehtonen, Head of the Tourism and Marketing Unit.
The conceptualisation and training of the museum’s tourist information point is currently underway, with the actual operation starting at the beginning of March.
-Information on tourism is now available through a variety of channels, both online and on-site at customer service points. We need to continuously improve the ease of finding and accessing information,” says Maria Rasmussen, a tourism expert.
The Satakunta Museum already serves tourists with a wide range of services, but in the future the museum will also offer a wider range of Pori branded products and information on the region’s tourist services.
-This is a natural development for us, as tourists are an important target group for museums. We are currently developing the marketing of Pori’s museums in a project that aims to attract more tourists to Pori city centre all year round, attracted by the diverse range of museums,” says Johanna Jakomaa, Museum Director of Satakunta Museum.
The plan is that the Pori Art Museum, which will open in 2024 after renovation, will also serve as a tourist information point. The cooperation between Visit Pori and Satakunta Museum will also include other tourism service development work, such as jointly planned and implemented guided city tours. New walking and bus tours of Pori are already planned for sale in the coming summer season. More details will be announced later in the spring.
